Nestled within Brooklyn's distinguished Lefferts Manor Historic District, a venerable corner residence from the late 19th or early 20th century presented a unique architectural dilemma. While its exterior boasted protected landmark status, the interior, though grand, struggled with contemporary demands. Obsolete utilities, insufficient storage, and dimly lit, compartmentalized areas rendered it challenging for a modern family of four, including two young children, to inhabit comfortably. Seeking a transformation that prioritized clarity, luminosity, natural elements, high functionality, and child-friendliness, the new proprietors engaged Abruzzo Bodziak Architects (ABA).

Architectural Approach: A Seamless Blend of Past and Present

ABA's vision for this historic dwelling was not a mere restoration but a bold reinvention. The architects meticulously navigated the fine line between preserving the home's intrinsic charm and instilling a sense of calm and simplicity.
